Merry Christmas!

Year 2 have had a great time this week with Christmas lunch in their jumpers! They've worked so hard this term and we're really proud of them. Thank you for all your cards, gifts and well-wishes. Merry Christmas!

Nativity

Year 1 and Year 2 have done an absolutely amazing job with their Nativity performance! We are so proud of the work they have put in and how well they performed. Well done, everyone!

Compton Verney Trip

Year 2 really enjoyed their trip to Compton Verney! They had a look round the gallery before creating their own tiles to use for printing.

Learning Celebration

Year 2 had a great time sharing their learning at the Learning Celebration! They enjoyed designing their pneumatic dragon toys and are looking forward to making them!

Science

As we move into Autumn, the children have been weeding the flower beds and planting bulbs. They looked closely at the bulbs and compared them to a range of different seeds we had collected. We're looking forward to seeing our bulbs grow and flower during Spring.

Science

The children used bear caves and torches to investigate which material would make the best black out curtains. They tried hard to use the words transparent, translucent and opaque to describe the different materials they tested.

Maths

We've been working on some talk tasks in maths this week - talking with our partners to come up with solutions to different problems!

Fire and Light

Year 2 have been starting off our theme of Fire and Light by using our senses to come up with adjectives and verbs to describe fire!

Welcome Back Year 2!

Important Information

P.E.

P.E. this half term will usually be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but children will need to have their P.E. kit in all week as this may sometimes change. Please ensure that children have full P.E. kit including a white t-shirt, black shorts, black jogging bottoms, a black long sleeved top and trainers.

Homework

  • Children will each have a homework book to take home each Friday. Each week, there will be a Phonics worksheet and a Maths worksheet to complete. Children can hand in their book as soon as they have finished their work, but all books will be collected and marked on Friday mornings.
  • Spellings will be set on Fridays and tested on the following Friday. You will be able to find the weekly spellings via the class page. Any changes to the test day (due to trips, R.E. days etc) will also be signposted here.
  • It is important that you continue to read with your child at home at least four times a week, as well as discussing the book with your child - discussing the plot, characters, any predictions or your child's opinion are all great ways to develop comprehension. Children will be heard weekly in school and will be given the chance to change their book then.
