Eco Committee

Eco Committee - 2024/25

The Eco Committee is made up of members from Year 1-6 and lead by our Eco Leaders in Year 6. They play an important role by making our school more environmentally friendly. They start the year by carrying out an Environmental Review to evaluate how environmentally friendly our school is. They then use the results from this survey to create an action plan with 3 targets for us to work on during year and make a positive difference to our school!

Informing and Involving

One of the most important parts of achieving our Eco School's award is informing and involving others in our projects. We aim to involve all year groups in an eco project this year and will involved others from our local community.

We share our most recent updates and project work on our display, which is located in the centre of the school.

Eco Code

Over the last two years of becoming an Eco School, we have worked together to write an Eco Code for our school to follow. We thought carefully about how children in our school could help to make a positive difference to our school and help to meet our action plan.

2024/25 - Action Plans

Once we completed our school audit at the end of November we voted on which areas we should improve or could make the most difference.

Our action plans we will work on this year are

  • Biodiversity - to increase the animal and plant diversity that use Radford Semele Primary School grounds and raise awareness for global biodiversity loss
  • Energy - to reduce our energy consumption and raise awareness of how carbon reliance affects the climate
  • Waste - to reduce our school wastage and start initiatives to reduce, reuse and recycle more including composting

Our recent initiatives and projects

Working with Warwickshire council to improve our recycling and reduce food waste.

Endangered animal awareness artwork project

'Respect our Environment' posters and repairing the bird feeders.

Why is it important to look after the environment?

Last year, our Eco Committee thought about why it was important to look after the environment and they made a video to share their ideas!
