By the end of year 4, children are expected to know all the multiplication and division facts up to the 12 times tables. This knowledge is tested in the form of the government issued multiplication tables check in June. The purpose of the multiplication tables check (MTC) is to determine whether pupils can recall their times tables fluently, which is essential for future success in mathematics.
Please ensure your children are practising as much as possible at home, particularly those tricky 6, 7, 8, 9, and 12 times tables!
Children have recently been sent home with their log-ins for Times Tables Rockstars (TTRS), and we are practising weekly in school. They should practise on the 'soundcheck' option, which consists of 25 questions, where children have 6 seconds to answer each (identical to the MTC in June!). Please speak to Mr Andrews if your child has lost their details or if you have any problems with logging in.
