Rocksteady Concert

Year 3 Learning Event

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend Year 3's Summer Learning Event! We had lots of fun sharing our theme learning all about Italy and the Romans and finding out more about Boudicca. We especially loved taking part in the Kahoot quiz!

Alive 2023! We had so much fun singing, dancing and SCREAMING!!

Thank you letters to Rufus at Lunt Roman Fort.

Rocksteady Concert

Well done to the Year 3 children who took part in the Rocksteady Concert!

The Bee Musical

What a wonderfully creative class we have! Year 3 worked so hard on their Spring production with Year 4, learning songs, dances and words in no time at all! We're so proud of all their hard work!

Coombe Abbey

Year 3 had a great time at Coombe Abbey! We explored features of a local river and measures its width, depth and speed. We also did some pond dipping and identified what we'd found!

Learning Celebration

It was so lovely to be able to share our learning this week! We had designed our own piece of bunting, using a printing block, to raise awareness for water pollution. In our Learning Celebration we sewed the top and then decorated with cross stitch!

World Book Day

What a wonderful, creative class we are! Year Three showed off their amazing costumes on World Book Day, dressing as a word. We went on a word hunt to create our own collection and came up with some great onomatopoeia poetry!

PSHE

This week we've been thinking about mental health and how to show kindness to other people in our PSHE lesson. We've created some jigsaws with a secret message telling the other person how amazing they are! We've also put messages in a 'Cup of Kindness' to say when our classmates had shown one of our values or been especially kind to someone.

Severn Trent

Severn Trent have visited us for a special assembly and workshop - we had a great time! We learnt about taking responsibility for our own hydration and why it's important to drink plenty, as well as ways that we can save water as a community. We explored different ways that we all use water and what we can do to reduce how much we use.

Merry Christmas!

Thank you so much for the cards and gifts and for the Christmas fun we've had over the past couple of days! Have a lovely break and we will see you in the New Year. Merry Christmas!

Stone Age Day

Wow, what an amazing day we've had with our Stone Age visitor! We've been hunting mammoths, looking at different objects from the Stone Age and asking lots of questions, as well as taking part in cave painting and archery!

Art

As part of our Art, we've been thinking about land art in the style of Andy Goldsworthy - we had a go at creating our own!

Science

We've been investigating how the friction of different materials can affect how far a toy car can travel as part of our 'Forces and Magnets' work.

We had a wonderful time at our Learning Celebration planning our Bronze Age stories!

We've been investigating soil as part of our Science work into Rocks. We went outside to find some, then identified the different things we could see in it.

It was so lovely to have a visit from Amy Smith, who came to our school to tell us about her career and her perseverance as well as helping us take part in some fun activities!

We've had a great time in our cooking lessons as part of Masterclass!

We've been exploring Stonehenge and had a go at making it - with us as the stones!

Welcome back!

Welcome back to school - we're really looking forward to this new year with you! Year Three is full of exciting learning and activities, and we can't wait to get started.

Here are some important things that you might need to know:

  • In Autumn 1, P.E. is on Wednesday and Friday. We will be inside and outside, so please make sure that you have appropriate clothing for both. Anything you bring to school will need to fit inside your locker, so please don't bring bags that are too big.
  • Spellings will be set weekly on this webpage (see above) and you'll be tested on Fridays.
  • Maths homework will also be collected in on Fridays. Please only complete one session (usually one or two pages) a week. Optional maths reasoning challenges will also be available (see above).
  • Please make sure that you are reading weekly. You'll be reminded to change your book if you need to each week, but if you'd like to do this more often then just ask Miss Warren or Mrs Hart!
  • Masterclass this half term will be Forest School and Cooking sessions - you'll switch half way through so you'll have three weeks of each. When you're doing Forest School, make sure you have appropriate clothing - there'll be an email with more details, as well as explaining which group you're in.

If you have any questions, please speak to Miss Warren or Mrs Hart.
