Every year, each class chooses two children to represent them in the school council. These representatives listen to their classmates and bring any ideas or suggestions that the children in the school might have to school council meetings. They also make important decisions for the whole school, such as their brilliant Rights Respecting School work and deciding how best to raise money for charity. We know that Democracy is an important British value so children who wish to be on the school council put their name forward and each class votes. At Radford, we believe it is important for our children to know that their voices will be heard!
Children in Need
The School Council organised fun events for everyone to take part in to raise money for Children in Need. They decided it was important to raise money to help improve the lives of children in difficult circumstances.
Children's Mental Health Week
This year, the theme is 'Know Yourself, Grow Yourself.' We decided to recognise this important week by trying out a different activity each day to help us feel calm and happy. The School Council led an assembly to introduce the week and then each class tried out one activity every day, such as active games, mindfulness drawing and colouring and a team quiz.
