World Book Day 2026
We had a super time on Thursday for World Book Day! The children looked fantastic in their book character costumes and they all enjoyed taking part in a variety of book-related activities throughout the day. The children completed a treasure hunt to find out who stole the Gingerbread Man and they then created a graphic novel based on the alternative fairy tale 'Snow White in New York.'
Loudmouth Personal Safety Workshop
Year 5 and 6 took part in a personal safety workshop with the Loudmouth performance group. They heard important messages about how they can keep themselves safe and who they can go to for support. They discussed Early Warning Signs and that they are in charge of their bodies and personal boundaries. The Loudmouth performers played some difficult situations and the children discussed how the characters could have sought help or acted differently.
Area Indoor Athletics
Selected students from Y5 and Y6 took part in the area indoor athletics competition along with lots of other schools. They competed in individual and team track and field events such as relay, speed bounce, standing long jump and javelin. All the children performed brilliantly and had lots of fun. It was lovely to see how supportive they were of each other and how well they demonstrated all our school values.
Maths
Year 6 have been working hard in their Maths lessons this week. They have been measuring and drawing angles, calculating missing angles on a straight line and exploring angles in triangles and quadrilaterals.
Year 5 & 6 Carol Concert
On Wednesday, Year 5 and 6 performed a Carol Concert to their families at St Nicolas Church. The children sang Christmas Carols, Christmas Songs and played a variety of instruments including hand chimes, guitar and piano. The children did an incredible job and we hope that everyone who attended enjoyed the festive treat!
Design Technology
Over the last week, Year 6 have been busy making tote bags as part of their design technology unit this term. The children designed, made and evaluated their bags. They all did such an amazing job and their final products were really successful.
Science - Electricity
Year 6 have been enjoying creating electrical circuits during their Science lesson. They have also been investigating how the amount of voltage affects the brightness of the bulb.
11/11/25 - Learning Event
It was wonderful to welcome so many parents and carers to the Year 6 Learning Event on Tuesday. The children delivered a maths lesson all about how to calculate fractions.
10/11/25 - Anti-Bullying Week and Odd Socks Day
06/11/25 - Children's Forest
Year 6 had a wonderful day at the Children's Forest on Thursday. They learnt about the trees, located them in the forest and played lots of fun games!
03/10/25 - Black Country Museum School Visit
What a super (and very rainy) day we had at the Black Country Museum on Friday! The children enjoyed exploring the different elements of the Museum, including experiencing what working in a coal mine was like and taking part in a Victorian school lesson. The children were so well-behaved and demonstrated our school values throughout the day.
Masterclass Art
Year 6 had their first masterclass art lesson and looked at the work of William Morris before responding to his work in sketch books.
WB 02/09/25 - The first week of school!
Year 6 have settled in brilliantly into the new school year. They have started their new theme topic on the Victorians and have taken part in science, maths, English and PSHE lessons over the week. Today was particularly exciting as we got to go and watch the Tour of Britain Cycle Race as it made its way through the village! I am really proud of how the children have settled into the new routines of the classroom and I look forward to teaching them over the coming year.
