The Three Little Pigs

The Three Little Pigs has been our traditional tale this week. We have shared the story, acted it out and retold it to a friend. We have even built houses like the three pigs and written about the houses.

National Poetry Day and Science

To celebrate National Poetry Day and demonstrate our recent science learning, the children explored using their five senses today. Afterwards we wrote a Senses Poem together as a class.

Science - loose part faces

We are learning all about humans during our science lessons at the moment. This week the children observed closely with mirrors and recreated their own faces using loose part resources. They then told an adult all about their face, with the adult labelling the different face parts they mentioned.

Computing

In our computing lessons, we have been learning about 'Technology Around Us'. We have found out what technology is and begun to explore key parts of a desk top computer and laptop. We enjoyed exploring the touchpad by creating our own paintings on laptops! We can't wait for our next computing lesson next week to keep building upon our skills!

Start of the year

We have had a brilliant start to the year in Year 1! The children have settled into their new classroom so well. We have enjoyed starting our new topics as well as exploring the resources in our classroom environment. The children will be taking part in continuous provision (known to the children as 'Busy Time') during the autumn term to help them make a smooth transition from Reception. This involves the adults setting up play-based activities and resources in order to meet our class objectives. As the year goes on, the amount of Busy Time will slowly decrease as children get used to spending more time on the carpet for adult-led sessions and tasks. Please take a look at our Termly Overview to find out more about what we will be learning this term!
