We are so proud of Felix! He went to speak to Mrs Benson about setting up a cartooning club. Felix told everyone about it in assembly and he began this week with Key Stage One (and the help of Hudson). We are really proud of his confidence in leading this. Great work Felix!
We have had great fun in maths learning all about symmetry this week!
Wow! What a brilliant day we have had! We got to take part in a mummification, learn an Egyptian dance, make an amulet out of clay and play some Egyptian games!
Year 3 and 4 were invited to judge an art exhibition at the Baptist Church! We had a great time looking at the different pieces, drawing our own art and even speaking to some of the artists!
A huge well done to our amazing Year 4s who competed in the Area Athletics competition! They were brilliant! It was so lovely to see them supporting each other and cheering others on! You made us very proud! Great work Year 4!
In science, we have been learning all about classifying animals and this week we made our own classification keys!
All the children will be learning about 'Protective Behaviours' in four PHSE lessons this week.

We have been working so hard on our maths! We are making great progress with our times tables. We have been learning about decimals and we had lots of fun partitioning decimal numbers writing on the tables!
Red Nose Day
We had great fun raising money for Comic Relief this year! We wore items of red clothing and took part in a Danceathon!
To start off our new Science topic 'Living things and their habitats', Year 4 had a visit from a lady from 'The Animal Man' company. We got to meet a variety of animals, including a snake, a legless lizard, an owl and many more. Year 4 really enjoyed holding and stroking all of the animals!
World Book Day
We had so much fun celebrating World Book Day this year! We looked at the beautiful picture book 'Journey' by Aaron Becker. We looked at the front cover and made some predictions. We realised that lots of the characters we were dressed as have been on journeys like Harry Potter's journey to Hogwarts or Alice's journey to Wonderland. We then wrote our own stories to accompany the pictures. We also made some artwork to show what magical word we would like to find through a door and experimented with watercolours.
This half term Year 4 have been learning all about sound in our Science lessons. Today we learnt about soundproofing and why it may be needed, then we conducted an investigation to find out which materials would work best to absorb sound. Each table wrapped a cereal box in a different material, then we played music on an iPad inside the wrapped box, and used an app on another iPad to measure the volume of the sound in decibels. We found that bubble wrap was the best at absorbing sound as the pockets of air inside it meant that the sound couldn't travel through as easily.
In our next science lesson, we then used everything we had learnt about how sound travels and pitch to create our own musical instruments!
This half term, we have been developing our art skills and have created some beautiful pieces linked to our topic all about the polar regions. We started off by developing our sketching skills and we learnt to use our pencils really lightly to create the shapes we wanted before drawing animals that can be found in the Arctic and Antarctic.
On Thursday 10th February, we learnt all about the Northern Lights and used chalk to blend colours together. We also learnt how to flick paint on to the paper to make it look like stars! Take a look!
Cooking and nutrition
Half of our Year 4s, started their cooking lessons this week with Mrs Hart and Mrs Kumari. They had a brilliant time and made some beautiful snowflake shortbread!
Happy New Year!
Welcome back to a brand new term! We hope you had a lovely Christmas and new year! This term, we have lots of exciting things to look forward to. We are starting our new topic Polar Regions. Christmas Church Service
Year 4 led our church service this year and they were brilliant! They did a great job of explaining the true meaning of Christmas and why Christmas is special to them! Please click on the link below to find a recording of the service.
Year 4 have had a great last week in school before we break up for Christmas. They have been making Christmas art, enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner and watched a festive film! Merry Christmas to all of our wonderful Year 4 children and parents! We are looking forward to our next term in 2022 already!
Coventry Cathedral Christingle
Year 4 represented our school at the Coventry Cathedral Christingle service. We had lots of fun finding out about the different parts of the Christingle and what they represent. We then made our own Christingles back at school!
Year 4 have worked so hard in their DT lessons this term. They started by learning all about Viking longboats and creating a design criteria for a model boat. They then carried out some market research, created their final designs and a step by step plan. To make their boats, they used a template, the hot glue gun and a saw to create their masts. Great work Year 4!
We were so excited to be able to be able to invite our parents back into school on Friday 12th November! We couldn't wait to show all of the parents our theme learning. We started off by sharing all we have learnt in our geography, history and art lessons last half term. We then got to share our theme books with all of the parents and show them our amazing art work. Finally, we got to finish with a fun quiz to test our knowledge! Thank you so much to everyone who attended. We had a lovely afternoon!
On Monday 8th November, Year 4 learnt about what it is like to be a Buddhist in Britain. They did lots of different activities including learning all about the four Noble truths and the Noble eightfold path. They also learnt about the items and religious artefacts which are included in a Buddhist shrine and why they are included. They really enjoyed making origami lotus flowers, in Buddhism the lotus flower is a symbol of enlightenment and seeing things the way they really are.
World Mental Health Day
On Friday 8th October, Year 4 wore yellow to raise money for Young Minds, a mental health charity for children, young people and their parents. As part of our mental health day activities, Year 4 learnt about what mental health means, and how we can look after our mental health. With Mrs Patel, Year 4 identified people in their support network, and made a paper chain to show who they could turn to if they needed some help. We also tried out some calming breathing exercises, which Year 4 were really good at, and did some mindfulness colouring.
On Thursday 23rd September, Year 4 continued to work on their gymnastics with Miss Conroy. Last week, they practised and perfected their pike, tuck and straddle. This week, they worked in groups to create symmetrical balances. Well done Year 4! Great teamwork!

Hello to all of our wonderful Year 4s and Year 4 parents! We are so excited for all of the amazing learning we have ahead and we are really looking forward to our first topic all about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings!
Mrs Patel will be teaching on Mondays and Fridays and Miss Conroy will be teaching Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Have a look at our Termly Plan to find out more about what we will be learning in the autumn term.
We have also uploaded some resources to help you practise your times tables! Times tables are so important and the quicker and more accurate you are, the easier you will find it to understand lots of different areas of maths! Keep revising the times tables you learnt in Year 2 (2s, 5s and 10s) and Year 3 (3s, 4s and 8s).
