Welcome to Year 3
Academic Year 2018-19
On Tuesday 25th June, half of Year 3 went to St Margaret's Junior School and thirty children from St Margaret's came to join us at Radford Semele. Our focus was understanding Christianity as a world wide faith.
Here at Radford, we explored crosses around the world. We began by playing games to help us understand the messages of the cross and made links to our school values. We then looked at eight crosses from around the world. We had a go at replicating these crosses using a variety of art techniques.
Outdoor learning - orienteering.
WORLD BOOK DAY 2019
Take a look at our super World Book Day costumes. Don't you think we look great?
We took part in role play activities based on the book Cat in the Hat. We worked in small groups and then performed to the rest of the class.
Science - Marvellous Mirrors
We played different games with our mirrors to explore how they work. We wrote secret messages using our mirrors. This was our other game...
For this game, we attempted to walk along wavy lines while looking only in a mirror held overhead. We found it very tricky because of the apparent reversal of left and right when looking in the mirror.
Mrs Hart drew some different lines, which were even trickier - a zig-zag and a spiral!
Science - Reflective Materials
The children looked at a range of materials and made predictions about which materials would reflect light and which wouldn't. They carried out an investigation using reflective testers. The children had a go at ordering the materials from the least reflective to the most reflective material. They then wrote a conclusion about their investigation.
THEME - CHINA
THEME - CAVE PAINTINGS
We enjoyed designing and then drawing our own cave paintings.
