Year Three have been so brilliant today at Sports Day! They all tried their best, supported each other and had a lovely time. Well done, all of you!
Wow! What an amazing day we've had! We've learning about Roman battle tactics, trying on Roman armour and looking at all sorts of objects from the life of a Roman soldier. We've also been hearing stories about the Romans and the Celts!
We had a brilliant day celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee! Each class had to research a decade to present in our special assembly and we found out all about the 80s! We loved our Jubilee mugs and thank you to the PTA for giving us all an ice lolly! We had a great day!
All the children will be learning about 'Protective Behaviours' in four PHSE lessons this week.

It was so lovely to have you all in to join us for our Learning Celebration, and tackle some challenges!
We've been having a great time learning new skills as part of our Masterclass cooking sessions!
As part of our 'Working Scientifically' unit, we've been investigating what happens if we add food colouring to water! What do you think will happen?
We've made a great start on our Theme for this term! We've explored rivers and mountains using pastels in Art and have researched rivers around the world.
What a great day out we had! We explored the British Motor Museum, thinking carefully about which cars were aerodynamic and looking at how they've changed over the years. We then had a go at building our own cars before testing out different tracks to see how friction affected them!
In Year 3 we have been learning about Stonehenge! We made a replica of Stonehenge using ourselves as the Sarsen stones and the bluestones.
This half term, we have begun our topic all about the Stone, Bronze and Iron Age. So far, we have found out all about the Stone Age and the amazing discovery of a preserved Neolithic site at Skara Brae. We also learnt all about how farming changed their lives. This week, we have started researching the Bronze Age and we can't wait to find out more!
This week, Year 3 have been working really hard in English. We have been learning all about descriptive poetry and have been trying to use our best adjectives and similes to describe fire! We are so proud of our final drafts.
On Thursday 7th October, we completed our science experiment! We have been finding out all about rocks and the properties of different rocks. We had great fun testing their permeability, durability and density.
This week, Year 3 have been working so hard as they were chosen to lead Harvest Festival at the church this year! We started the week by exploring what Harvest was all about and we found out that it is a special time of the year where we can give thanks for all we have. We listened to a story from the Old Testament of the Bible called 'Sealed with a Sandal'. We then wrote our own poems and prayers and practised our worship. We also found out about the amazing work that foodbanks do (look out for the foodbank in our church which is open all year round!) so it was great to see everyone bringing in their donations. On Friday, Year 3 lead the service at the church and for KS1 in the hall and they were incredible! Well done Year 3! You were brilliant!
It was so lovely to say hello to Year Three and to start our new school year together. We had a great first day and it was wonderful seeing how excited and enthusiastic the children were. I'm looking forward to everything we'll be doing over the school year! If you have any questions, then please feel free to contact me.
