Year 3 Christmas Service
Year 3 performed the end of year Christmas church service, retelling the story of the very first Christmas and encouraging everyone to show the values for family, respect, forgiveness and love this Christmas. They sung some festive carols which made everyone feel warm and Christmassy! Merry Christmas from Year 3!
NRICH Rich Task - Strike It Out
Pupils took part in a Rich Task for Maths today. The children had to watch 2 people play a numbers game and work out what the rules are. Pupils then came up with a list of rules and played the game for themselves. They realised the game only ends when a player cannot complete their number sentence.
Stone Age Visitor
On Friday, pupils were visited by The History Guy, who lead the children through a day in the Stone Age. Pupils learnt about the development of the early humans, handled artefacts and clothing from the Stone Age, created their own cave paintings using chalk and charcoal, and built their own Stone Age tools.
Science - Rocks Specialist Visit
In Science this week, Year 3 children welcomed Rock Specialist, Mrs West, to our classroom. The children enjoyed learning more about different types of rocks and fossils. They took time to handle and identify rocks, and draw and label fossils. They asked lots of questions to our visiting scientist!
Rich Task - Counter Design
The Children took part in an NRICH Rich Task for their Maths this week. Pupils had to use counters and make a design, and the rest of their team had to use their maths questioning skills to work to together and try to replicate the same order and number of counters that the designers had. The children really enjoyed working out the right questions to ask to help them figure out the sequence!

Forest School Masterclass
Half of our Year 3 pupils are currently enjoying the autumnal weather in our forest school masterclass!
Learning Celebration - Planning a storyboard
Year 3 pupils held their first learning celebration of the year, where they told their parents/carers the story of Stone Age Boy. Children then used a storyboard to plan out a narrative about them going back in time to the Stone Age and what they would get up to.
Theme - The Stone Age
Ever wondered how long the Stone Age lasted for? In our timeline lesson, the children demonstrated how long the Stone Age went on for compared to how old they are, using a whole roll of toilet tissue! Safe to say, the Stone Age was an extremely long period in time! Pupils learned that there are 3 main eras of the stone age.
PSHE
The children have been learning about building relationships and working together as part of our PSHE lessons. Pupils played the name game, rolling the ball to each other and saying the name of who they would like to go next. Children also shared their favourite things to do/eat/visit in small mixed groups.
Cooking and Nutrition Masterclass!
Some Year 3 Pupils took part in their first cooking masterclass of the year, with some fantastic and tasty results! Pupils excelled in their cutting and chopping skills.
Off to a Great Start!
Year 3 undertook their first RE lesson of the year where the focus is why nature and the seasons are so important when talking about religious worldviews. We discussed how nature affects us and what our favourite places in nature are and why. Children drew these places in their books.
