Welcome to year one,

We have had a lovely week getting to know each other, learning the rules and routines of the classroom and beginning this term's theme of 'Me, Myself and My Home'.

We are very hopeful to be having a 'normal year' where we can go on school trips and have visitors into school. We are really excited to be visiting St John's museum this term, taking a walk around the local area and inviting you into school to work with the children for our learning celebration in December.

Mrs Finn will be teaching Monday to Thursday with our lovely student teacher Miss Russell. Mrs Gott is teaching on a Friday until Mrs Pike returns after her maternity leave. We are lucky enough to have Mrs Skipper and Mrs Bowen to be supporting the class on some days too.

PE - this will be on a Wednesday and a Thursday. Please leave PE kits in school. They will be sent home each half term for a wash.

Reading - we will read everyday as a whole class and each child will read individually at least once a week. Please ensure that your child has their book and diary in school everyday. 15 minutes of daily practise at home will also be a great benefit to your child's progress.

Please see what we are learning this term in the 'termly plans' folder. I have also uploaded some number formation sheets and some resources to learn and practise phonics at home. You will also find the common words which the children need to be able to read and spell by the end of the year.

Thank you for your support. Any questions please email Mrs Finn or Mrs Gott.

Week 1 - we have been learning the story of Nehemiah and understanding the value of perseverance

Radford Semele C of E Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff, volunteers and parents to share this commitment.
