Writing

There is a grammar activity to complete at the start of the week, followed by one longer writing task that is based on Theme. The writing task can be split across different days - you may wish to have a day for planning and a day for writing or simply write on two different days using the Theme presentation to help you. 

 

Suggested timetable: 

Day One: Grammar 

Day Two: Theme

Day Three & Four: Writing 

 

When a writing task has been completed, encourage your child to edit their work. This involves checking for capital letters and full stops, as well as finger spaces and phonetically plausible spellings. 

 

There are also spellings for your children to learn and handwriting to practise should you wish to do them. These are just available as an optional extra, or as a way for your child to work on their fine motor skills. 

Grammar

This week's grammar looks at the prefix un-, changing the meaning of the word it's attached to. Your child will need to write a few sentences as a part of this.

Please make sure you have completed the George Stephenson presentation before this task as you will need the information in it to help you. I have added it to the resources below to help you. There is also an example layout and some additional facts that you may wish to look at - you don't have to use the template, but it is there if you want to. This task is not designed to be done in one day so please split it as you see fit.
