Good morning Year One! I hope you've all had a lovely weekend and are keeping busy. If you're staying at home this week, you can find daily lessons on BBC Bitesize and Oak Academy (there are links to both below). You can also have a look at the summer overview, which will show the objectives for this term, and the useful websites page, where you can find links to more resources including ebooks. If you'd like to have an idea of what the children in school are doing, I have put a summary below but please be aware that these activities have been planned for a classroom setting. Please contact me if you have any questions and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Children at school will continue spending as much time as possible outside. The afternoons will be spent with 30 Days Wild activities, or art/crafting in poor weather, and games to build on their social skills. The mornings this week will be spent reviewing and developing core subjects.
English - The key books for the next few weeks will be 'Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch' and sequels (although if you're following at home, you can use another book). This week the children will read 'Lighthouse Keeper's Cat' and sequence events from the story. They will then retell the story in their own words, trying to do so independently.
Maths - The children will review their coin recognition and play games to strengthen. They will then have to work out how many items with different prices they can buy for a certain amount of money before learning about change and how it relates to subtraction.
Science - Thinking about the signs of all four seasons and the months that are in each season.
If there are any photos you would like to share of something you've done at home, please send them in for Show and Tell on Friday. Whether you're staying at home or are returning to school, I hope to see you all soon. Stay safe and have fun!
