Theme and Writing

Sort the arguments for deforestation into 'For' and 'Against' piles.

Read this example of a persuasive letter about deforestation. Pay particular attention to the words and phrases in bold (examples of persuasive vocabulary and techniques).

You will first plan your persuasive letter about deforestation.

  • Use the arguments from Activity 1 to decide if you are 'for' or 'against' deforestation
  • Use three of these arguments to plan your persuasive letter using the planning template and persuasive word mat to help. Only write in notes for the planning stage.
  • Make sure you look back at the WAGOLL (What A Good One Looks Like) to understand what your persuasive letter should 'look like.'

Use your plan to write a persuasive letter about deforestation.
