Maths

To start your maths learning each day, try one of the 'Rapid Reasoning' pages. They are similar to the 'Fluent in 5' pages that you have been working on but these practise your important Maths reasoning skills. This is the first week that you have come across 'Rapid Reasoning' and therefore you may find it challenging to begin with. You may wish to try to complete two questions on the first few days and extending to all three questions by the end of the week. 'Rapid Reasoning' questions are great for discussing with someone else!

On Friday (or at another time during the week, if you'd prefer), do the short arithmetic test that I have posted to practise these skills further!

Then, access the presentation slides or video which explain the learning we would be doing in class. Once you have spent some time on the learning, move to the PDFs where you can choose your level of challenge. The answers are on the final pages for you to see how you are getting on when you have completed the tasks.

Monday:

For the next two days in Maths, we will be looking at representing place value in money. Today, we will be focussing on this and on writing amounts in pounds and pence.

Watch Ms Brown's video to learn more. Then, choose your challenge from 'Finding in between amounts' Sheet 1 or 2. In both, you need find 3 amounts that lie between pairs of prices and order them from least to greatest.

**Both today's and tomorrow's tasks and answers are on the same document below**

Tuesday:

Today, we are building on our learning form yesterday's lesson and looking at adding and subtracting amounts of money.

Work through the lesson presentation (make sure you have some scrap paper with you so that you can try some of the questions in the presentation as you go). Then, choose from 'Adding and subtracting £1s, 10ps and 1ps' Sheet 1 or 2. Both are looking at finding new prices after amounts have been increased or decreased by multiples of £1, 10p and 1p. **Today's tasks and answers are on the same document as yesterday's**

After you have finished the main task, try the problem-solving and reasoning questions below to extend your learning even further!

Wednesday:

Today and tomorrow, we are going to be revisiting and extending our learning from last term on adding 3-digit numbers using expanded column addition. This is a really important method that we will be using a lot when we get back to school so this is a great chance to practise!

First, watch Ms Brown's video to recap and learn more. Then, choose from 'Adding two 3-digit numbers' Sheet 1 or 2 and get practising! **Both today's and tomorrow's tasks and answers are on the same document below**

Thursday:

Today, we are building on yesterday's learning on addition.

Work through today's lesson presentation. When you have done that, some of you will want to stay with expanded addition and some of you will feel ready to practise column addition. Choose your challenge either 'Expanded addition' on Sheet 1 or 'Column addition' on Sheet 2.

**Today's tasks and answers are on the same document as yesterday's**

After you have finished the main task, try the problem-solving and reasoning questions below to extend your learning even further!

Friday:

Today we will work on mental and written maths.  Complete the short arithmetic test that I have posted to practise your skills! Remember to use a written method if you need to. Mark your answers when you have finished to see how you did.

Also, choose your 99Club level and see if you can complete it in the given time. You can find the different 99Club levels, and the answers, under 'Maths Extras'. Remember to mark your work... if you didn't get an answer correct this week, practise over the course of next week and see if you can improve your score next Friday. Once you have completed a level with all the correct answers in the given time 3 times, move onto the next level!
