Should my child wear a white or a blue polo shirt?

From September 2020, we have made a few small changes to our school uniform. All children in Reception should wear a white polo shirt. Children in years 1-6 will all change to white polo shirts as and when their blue polo shirts need replacing.

Can you recommend any books about starting school?

We have put together a selection of books that you may like to share with your child over the next few months.

Do I need to fill in a form so that my child gets a free school meal?

No. All Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils in state-funded schools can have free school meals. This is known as “universal entitlement”.

However, Pupil Premium is a sum of money given to schools each year to improve the attainment of disadvantaged children. Since September 2014, all children in Reception and Years 1 and 2 have qualified for free school meals, regardless of their family income, but only the children who would qualify for free meals under a specific income-based criteria will receive the pupil premium. If your child qualifies for free school meals, it’s important that you tell their school – even if they take a packed lunch – as this enables them to claim pupil premium.
