English - Writing and SPaG

This week, the writing will be a little bit different, as we will be preparing for a Harvest Festival in school. Monday morning will be focused on Grammar as usual. On Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning, please have a go at the Harvest activities that we will be doing in school. For the rest of the week, you can follow the tasks as usual from the timetable. 

Grammar

On Monday, please have a look through the presentation and then go through the worksheet and challenge. 

Harvest

On Monday afternoon, you'll be coming up with your own Harvest poem for a Harvest Festival service. Start by having a look at the presentation below. 

Once you've been through the presentation, have a look at this story before writing your own poem using the resources below to help you. 

On Tuesday, start by writing your poem up neatly, editing any mistakes that need correcting. This is instead of normal handwriting, so make sure you write it in your best handwriting. After that, you'll be coming up with your own prayer or reflection - start by working through the presentation.

This week, we are going to be writing a newspaper article about the discovery at Skara Brae! 

 

On Wednesday, complete your theme lesson first to find out all about Skara Brae. After you have completed your theme lesson, have a look at the Powerpoint and example newspaper article to see if you can spot the common features of newspapers.

 

On Thursday, we are going to plan and write our first paragraph. Don't forget to include the 5Ws and explain clearly what has happened! 

 

On Friday, we will finish our writing by continuing with the rest of the article. 

Handwriting

This week, instead of the usual handwriting, you'll be writing up your Harvest poem as neatly as you can - you can use the template above or decorate your own.
